Just before an embassy would be stormed, the staff would be ordered to black out all incriminating information contained in the dossiers. The blacking out would usually be carried out by a compact, featureless man in a beige suit, or a much tanned woman with big hair, gold bangles and duty free-perfume. Is she the ambassador’s wife, secretary or mistress? This will depend on the territory this frenetic activity was taking place in. The result was a striking striped aesthetic. Information rendered useless by the stroke of a thick marker. The artist bodies forth his most sensitive and incriminating ideas ******** ********* in works censored in line with this principal.
